GOOD GOVERNANCE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR G20

As the C20’s (Civil Society 20) role is to represent the views of national and international civil society at the G20, it works as a platform to share opinion and advocacy in order to make recommendations to the world leader related to areas such as, development and economic improvement. We contribute to C20 as a working group member.

G20 (Group of 20) is made up of 20 of the world’s most significant economies and C20 (Civil Society 20) has a role to represent the views of national and international civil society at the G20, it works as a platform to share opinion and advocacy in order to make recommendations to the world leaders. C20 has different working groups, one of them is Governance Working Group. In the scope of C20 activities, the issues that have been discussed and considered as important for taking action for improvment in the governance work stream have been evaluated by civil society organizations in Türkiye based on the prioritization in their agenda. The issues discussed related to participation and voluntary supporting business environment to adopt responsible business principles are accepted as a priority issue for civil society organization in Türkiye. As per our analysis, there is a consensus among civil society organizations in Türkiye on; respect for human rights, implementation of good labor practices, protection of environment and sustainable development, and fighting against corruption which are stated under the United Nations Global Compact principles. Additionally, implementing good governance and responsible behavior to enable more transparent regulatory environment in the public sector is accepted as the priority issue in the agenda of civil society organizations. Integrated Reporting has been stated as a priority to support transparency by the civil society organizations in Türkiye. The issues related to transparency in public sector and anti-corruption are accepted as a priority issues for civil society organizations in Türkiye, recently.
