We hosted the Project Affected People Mechanism (PPM) consultation meeting, organized by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to evaluate community feedback on the potential negative impacts of projects financed with a nature and human-sensitive approach, in Istanbul, with the participation of various non-governmental organization representatives.
During the policy evaluation meeting held at Impact Hub, Marvin Taylor-Dormond, Director General of AIIB's Complaints Resolution, Evaluation and Integrity Unit (CEIU), emphasized the importance of independent evaluation. Dr. İnan İzci, a Board Member of Argüden Governance Academy and co-facilitator of the meeting, highlighted the necessity of establishing more open and accessible consultation mechanisms at the local level to enable NGOs to conduct effective risk analyses and prevent potential risks.
As the Academy, we thank AIIB, which plays a role in promoting Independent Accountability Mechanisms (IAMs) that we consider important for strengthening good governance on a global scale, and the valuable NGO representatives who participated.
