As Argüden Governance Academy, in collaboration with the Arayüz Campaign - Youth Policies and Research Association, Mesken Urban Planning Consultancy and Research, and with the hosting of Kadıköy Academy, we organized the Workshop on Meaningful and Effective Local Civic ParticipationThe workshop, held at the Tasarım Atölyesi Kadıköy, focused on the importance of civic participation tools to enhance the quality of strategic planning processes in municipalities, improving the transparency and efficiency of city councils, and promoting the effective use of resources.
The workshop, which discussed strengthening participatory democracy and good governance at the local level, brought together representatives from municipalities, academia, civil society organizations, city councils, and professional chambers. Participants analyzed the current situation in various sessions where they evaluated problems and proposed solutions for making civic participation meaningful and effective. They also provided recommendations for enhancing civic participation processes and identified steps to be taken.
The workshop included participants from the Arayüz Campaign, Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, Bursa City Council, Emek Benim Women's Association, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Istanbul City Council, Istanbul Technical University, Kadıköy Municipality, Fair City Association, Nilüfer City Council, Our Street Association, Sultanbeyli Municipality, City Detective: City, Environment, and Art Association, Chamber of City Planners, Şişli Municipality, and Üsküdar Municipality.
