We came together with the 2016 and 2018 graduates of our Good Governance in the Public Sector Certificate Program at a meeting on Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement and Effective Civil Engagement, hosted by the Ankara City Council.

As part of the A Decade on the Journey towards Governance Excellence events organized for the 10th anniversary of our Academy, we met with our public sector graduates. In 2024, we made a special effort to bring together graduates from various sectors under different themes. During these meetings with our private sector graduates on Boards of Directors and Artificial Intelligence and with our civil society graduates on Creating Resources in Civil Society and Crowdfunding Summit.
We determined the topic and date of our meeting by engaging with our graduates. After conducting a survey, our graduates requested a meeting in November on Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement and Effective Civil Engagement.
The meeting, hosted by the Ankara City Council, took place from 14:00 to 16:00. Under the moderation of our Chairman of Board of Trustees, Dr. Yılmaz Argüden, we first shared our latest work in the field of public governance with our graduates. We then held an interactive session where we listened to how our graduates are applying the concept of “good governance” within their own organizations.
In the second part of our meeting, our Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, Pınar Ilgaz, introduced the Civil Engagement Model©, which is aligned with the theme of the meeting. The Model was developed as a tool to facilitate the application and adoption of good governance principles in management steps such as decision-making, organization and processes, resource utilization, and service delivery. Additionally, the Model ensures the improvement of the quality of governance processes, including structure and leadership, implementation, measurement, and evaluation. The Model demonstrates how the principles of good governance can be applied through governance processes.
The Model is not only a guide but also a transformative assessment tool for achieving excellence in governance. By integrating the mentioned processes and steps with the principles of good governance, the model provides a holistic approach to the implementation of good governance and enables all activities to meaningfully contribute to the organization's mission.
We would like to thank all the participants of our meeting, which took place with the participation of experts and managers from institutions such as the Directorate General for State Hydraulic Works, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Turkish State Railways, and Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye.
