Given their role as the public institutions closest to daily life, the actions of local governments in dealing with all kinds of crises today become more critical. Local government mechanisms are tasked with combating local, national, and global crises while also being responsible for enhancing their citizens' development and welfare. Therefore, we find it very important to improve governance quality in local governments to enhance the quality of life for citizens.
In this online seminar conducted at the invitation of the Good Governance Academy, we shared insights on how to use data to map, measure, and improve local government culture and practices from a citizen-centric perspective. During the seminar, where we also shared the methodology and results of our “Metropolitan Municipality Governance Scorecard” research for a citizen-centered local good governance assessment, our Academic Board Members Dr. İnan İzci and Dr. Erkin Erimez participated as speakers.
