As Argüden Governance Academy, we became a signatory to the Türkiye National Philanthropy Commitment on Climate Change, an initiative aimed at strengthening the role of civil society in addressing climate change in Türkiye.
Launched by the Third Sector Foundation of Türkiye (TÜSEV) with grant support from Sabancı Foundation, the initiative encourages civil society organizations to integrate a climate perspective into their institutional processes and activities, create opportunities for collective learning, and strengthen inter-organizational collaboration.
The Commitment encourages signatory organizations to develop their activities in line with seven core principles: Educate and Learn, Commit Resources, Integrate a Climate Lens, Steward Investments, Decarbonize Operations, Collaborate, and Advocate.
Following the signing process, we participated in training and peer-learning activities organized under the Philanthropy for Climate Implementation Support Program. On July 23, 2026, we attended “Module 1: Climate Literacy and a Holistic Approach to Climate Risks.” The session covered planetary boundaries, current indicators of climate change, mitigation and adaptation policies, national and international climate policies, and climate justice.
On September 15, 2026, we participated in “Module 2: Methods for Implementing the Principles – 1,” which focused on Principle #5: Decarbonize Operations. We explored institutional consumption, reducing environmental impacts, and practical approaches to minimizing the environmental footprint of organizational activities. We also learned about good practices shared by signatory organizations to reduce their environmental impacts.
Our Communications and Fundraising Officer, Dr. Fatma Kübra Astam, represented Argüden Governance Academy at these sessions.

The final session of the three-module program, “Module 3: Methods for Implementing the Principles – 2,” will take place on October 15, 2026. The session will focus on Principle #1: Educate and Learn and Principle #3: Integrate a Climate Lens.
As a signatory to the Commitment, we remain dedicated to integrating climate action into our institutional processes and activities in line with our good governance approach, while contributing to collective learning and knowledge sharing.
