This session has been published on the official OECD website under the page titled Trust and the Resilience of Our Democracies: New Evidence and the Way Forward.

The main theme of the OECD 2024 Global Forum was Building Trust and Reinforcing Democracy. Elsa Pilichowski, OECD's Director of Public Governance, moderated the session titled Trust and the Resilience of Our Democracies: New Evidence and the Way Forward. During the panel, Pilichowski shared the findings of the newly published OECD Trust Survey. According to the OECD Trust Survey's key results, trust in national governments is generally at a low level and continues to decline.

Pilichowski emphasized the critical need to increase trust in national governments, while noting that the concrete steps required to achieve this goal have yet to be defined. She emphasized that meaningful engagement with citizens is also essential to building trust. However, she acknowledged that a clear roadmap for implementing concrete actions to achieve this goal is still lacking. In this context, she referred to the Civil Engagement Model developed by the Argüden Governance Academy, highlighting its role in measuring and concretizing the steps to be taken in building trust, and encouraged everyone to review it.
