KA.DER Chairman Nuray Karaoğlu, in her speech at the introductory meeting, stated that they aim to contribute to the process of ensuring gender equality through municipalities with the Inclusive Municipal Governance Scorecard (KBYK), and said, "Even though Türkiye is one of the countries where women gain the right to vote and be elected the earliest, today's women It is one of the countries with the lowest representation and participation in the political arena. According to the 2018 report of the World Economic Forum, Türkiye ranks 130th among 149 countries in the general gender equality index."
After the speeches, KA.DER Projects Coordinator Ayşe Kaşıkırık made presentations on “Egalitarian Policies in Local Governments” and Dr. İnan İzci from Argüden Governance Academy made presentations on “Integrated and Inclusive Strategic Planning Approach”. The meeting continued with the "Equality and Good Governance Practices in Local Governments" Panel moderated by Fikret Toksöz. In the presentation made by UCLG-MEWA General Coordinator Salim Korkmaz, both UCLG-MEWA was introduced and the work of the UCLG-MEWA Gender Equality Committee was mentioned.
