The Policy Making Guide for Youth, created within the framework of the Youth Policy School Project, was prepared for young people aged 18-30 who are either employees or volunteers of civil society organizations, as well as members of the youth council within the city council.

Policy Making Guide for Young People

With the contributions of Argüden Governance Academy, Esenyurt City Council, and Esenyurt Culture and Art Association, we aim to provide young people with basic knowledge and direct them to the right resources through this guide. In doing so, we expect the guide to make a direct contribution to achieving Sustainable Development Goals 16 and 17, which focus on peace, justice, and strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals, respectively, as adopted by the United Nations in 2015.

Why Youth?

The Global Youth Development Index, an annual report published by the Commonwealth, examines youth development. The report assesses global youth development levels through 27 indicators in six areas: education, health and well-being, employment and opportunity, political and civic participation, equality and inclusion, and peace and security. According to the 2020 results, while global youth development made a progress of 3%, there was a slight average global decline of 0.18% in the area of political and civic participation.

In terms of overall youth development ranking, Türkiye ranks 70th out of 181 countries, while in the area of political and civic participation, it ranks 80th. Considering these results, we aim for the activities and guide within the project to be a helpful guide and provide valuable insights.
